Curate Your Life

Are you ready to curate the life you’ve always envisioned? The idea is simple and elegant, but the path to getting there isn’t always easy.

I get it. You’ve got things to do. Deadlines to meet. Meals to cook. A home to clean. Budgets to balance. Relationships to nurture.

You jump out of bed every day, running. Your to-do list is growing. You get things done, but there’s always more. You’re busy! You feel overwhelmed more days than not.

I have a secret for you. Are you ready?

You are not a superhero! Wonderwoman may be a babe and seem like she has it all together, but she doesn’t.

You are a woman with one wildly precious, wonderful life to live!

Imagine this instead:

  • You get up in the morning after a great night's sleep

  • You take time for yourself instead of rushing to your first project

  • Your surroundings are clutter-free

  • Your mind is at ease

Days like this can be yours. All you need to do is DECIDE. That’s it. Just decide.

Let me help you get started:

  • Decide to get up 15 minutes earlier

  • Decide to have your morning beverage on the patio or in a cozy corner of your home

  • Decide not to multi-task

  • Decide to start a donation bag and put something in it each day you don’t need or want

  • Decide to say no to obligations that don’t feel like a hell yes

Deciding is easy. It is the decision after the decision that can stop us in our tracks.

Pick one thing this week that you would like to add or subtract from your day and start practicing it.  I’m going to warn you now that it won’t be easy. Your brain is going to tell you to go back to your “old” way of doing things.

If you don’t know what to start with, try this:

Do nothing for 15 minutes a day.  Yep. Tell your brain that your life coach prescribed it, and you need to do it.  You may need to start with only three minutes a day, but you can work up to 15 minutes.

Go outside or find a window with a pretty view or sit in your favorite space and do nothing.

This is not meditating or napping, or writing in your journal. It is a time and space for you to sit and daydream, watch the birds, or the way the light shines through that tree across the way.

Simple, yes.  Easy, well, not so much, but with practice, it will become easier.

And guess what? You’ll start to come up with ideas, plans, and dreams. You’ll feel more relaxed and refreshed. You’ll start to see the forest through the trees.  All this by sitting and doing nothing each day.

Give it a try, and let me know how it goes.
